+therioman
Hello, I'm new to the geocaching thing, which is a bit silly because for ages I had apps on my phone for it and just didn't get around to it - but better late than never! I'm in Exeter, and am looking to meet with other Exeter & Devon cachers to get more of an idea of the whole thing and hopefully start getting involved... I'd love to hear from anyone in the area as I'm not sure how many people around here are hunting those caches. Hopefully speak to you soon! Cheers Vince Quote Link to comment
+The Blorenges
Welcome Vince, There's a lot of caching activity down in the southwest in your area and a few of the active cachers post here from time to time. Most geocaching 'socialising' takes place at geocaching event caches which are organised by local geocachers. These range from being a simple get-together evening meet up at a local pub to longer events that include camping and usually take place over a weekend. (You don't always have to camp, you can attend as a day visitor) To find out what's been planned near you go to: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx Select 'event cache' > 'by State/Country' > 'United Kingdom' > 'South West England' [Go] It's worth checking regularly because new events are set up from week to week. The GAGB forum also has a calendar list of event caches around the UK GAGB Calendar of events. MrsB Edited May 13, 2010 by The Blorenges Quote Link to comment
+*mouse*
Hello therioman and welcome to geocaching. There are lots of cachers in Exeter and Devon. Unfortunately you have just missed an event in Exeter, but I guarentee there will be another one soon - they're a sociable bunch We've got a strong little community in the South West so no doubt I'll bump into you at an event at some point! +therioman
First cache done. I was so close to giving up at one point too, so on a learning to be patient front, full marks :-) Quote Link to comment

ZoltanF
I'm relatively new too, but am loving it...especially as it evokes childhood memories of letterboxing with my Dad on Dartmoor! I'm well into Geocachism! Quote Link to comment
