+Sparticus06
Hey Geocoiners...got junk? I sure hope so! I'm currently participating in a month-long scavenger hunt at my workplace, and I'd really like to kick my collective co-workers' butts with a big, loud thud! I got to thinking about the potential resources available here, and I'm hoping that your attics and basements might hold the treasures I seek. Here's the deal: I've got a lot of geocoins. But I don't have, say...for example: a New Kids On The Block poster, or a plastic figurine of Pepe Le Pew. If you have either of these, or any of the items listed below, let's talk turkey! Since some of the items may be more common than others, I'm guessing more than one person will have them. So just to be clear, this isn't really a "first-to-post" type of cointest. It's a modified cointest in that I'd really like to give away a bunch of coins for these items. But if any one person can send me a good number of these items, we'll certainly negotiate for more stuff! Just to keep this solidly in line with your standard forum cointest, I'll be awarding a nice geocoin to someone in this thread who helps out. Capiche? Buono. Here's the list... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Looking for these items:*** Periwinkle Crayola Krispy Kreme paper hat Piece of junkmail postmarked NY Pair of Earplugs (unused please) 3" Styrofoam ball A Real Feather Ping Pong paddle Plastic Harmonica Map of Narnia or Middle Earth (not from the internet) Purple Birthday Cake Candle (not pink) Business card from a Cosmetic Salesperson Bookmark with a Kitten Cookie cutter shaped like a dinosaur Comic from Bazooka Bubble Gum Luggage Tag to Chicago (ORD) A Furby Plastic Quarter Cup from a Casino Something that says "Made in Canada" Troll Doll with green hair Beer Cozy with a Fishing Quote Milli Vanilli cassette jacket cover Hackey Sack Anti-DUI bumper sticker Personalized Matches from a Wedding New Kids on the Block Poster "I Drove the Ducky" Boat Sticker Ashtray from Caesar's Palace Las Vegas Spy vs. Spy Comic Book 8" Floppy Disk Pair of Jellies (the shoes) Plastic Figurine of Pepe Le Pew Extra Super Bonus Points for me having my picture taken holding a real monkey. Know anyone within 100 miles of Pittsburgh that could make that happen? (I'd probably give my left kidney for this one, but not if it meant the monkey would rip it out himself) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you spot a bunch of stuff on here that you DEFINITELY HAVE, shoot me an e-mail to yemonyime(at)yahoo(dot)com and we'll go into "Junk for Geocoins" discussions! ***IMPORTANT INFO*** I'll most likely need to verify items for their "legality" with regards to the scavenger hunt. For example, I thought I had a dinosaur cookie cutter, but it turned out to be a really badly done giraffe! The above is a current list of items I need, and don't have in my possession right now. Some are worth more points than others in my work contest, and I'll certainly consider that when we negotiate swappage. The list could potentially change if I stumble across an item locally. On the other hand, I might not get other non-listed items I thought I had already secured! Let's try this for two weeks and see what you can come up with! I'll set an "offer" deadline of May 25th so that I can get stuff here and in hand in plenty of time for my own contest deadline. Thanks for looking everyone, and I look forward to seeing whatcha got tucked away! Yime Ok I almost know for a fact that I have: Periwinkle crayon Ear Plugs (as many as you want, I work in a factory) 3" Styrofoam ball Ping Pong Paddle Plastic Harmonica (might be one in the cache in my yard) Dinosaur Cookie cutter (it is actually for sandwiches, but it would still work, right?) Furby (got an old one and a new one) Hackey sack Personalized matches from my wedding 8" Inch Floppy (would have to look hard, but I think I still have one somewhere) I will definitely check on all this. YemonYime
Okay, here's the first round of list updates. Items that have been guaranteed to be available are now crossed out. Everything else that's not in red, I've had mentioned, but not yet secured. I haven't responded to all the emails just yet, as I'm still trying to maximize on offers with multiples and items towards the bottom of the list (which are tougher). I still may have a need for some backup items in case some offers don't come through. No hits yet on items marked in red, so take a look at those. They're a little tougher to locate, but they're definitely out there! If someone can get their hands on multiples of those, I'll be offering up some major coinage! So if that's worth it to ya, check eBay and some specialty stores. Spy Comic Book 8" Floppy Disk Pair of Jellies (the shoes) Plastic Figurine of Pepe Le Pew Thanks!!! YemonYime
does it have to be a live monkey? ILYK The fact that the item was listed without specifically mentioning the word "live" is the technicality that I will be exploiting. YemonYime
Darn..someone else found you a troll doll with green hair? I just found the teeny tiny one under my daughter's bed. You won't believe this, but... I was talking with a co-worker from a different division, who asked about "that scavenger thing" our division was doing and what sort of things we had to find. I rattled off a few from the top of my head: "An old BeeGees 8-track taaaape, a receipt for 50 cents worth of gaaaas, ummm...a furrrrbeee, uhhhhh...one of those green troll dolllllls..." She SWATS me right there! Stops me mid-sentence and starts rooting through her purse like she's on Let's Make A Deal. Receipts flying out, tube of mascara drops, then she pulls out, of course, a green haired troll doll. Holds it up like it's the Stanley Cup. I think I must've gave her a look like she just pulled out a chunk of uranium. "Okaaaaay, that just happened?" She's like "OMG, a guy gave this to me, and said he found it, and it has wings, and since my name's Angel he thought it was so cool" etc, etc. Purely dumb luck and irony, but score! 100 points! YemonYime
Someone find this man a live monkey! This thread is pure GOLD!!! Oh wait...it gets better! INTRUDER ALERT, INTRUDER ALERT!!! We have spies in our midst! My field agents have recently ascertained that a splinter cell of non-geocaching competitors (aka: nebnoses*) have infiltrated this site to gather vital information about my progress! It appears they are using cutting edge stalking equipment (Google) to uncover my resourceful methods. But hold on...the BEST part of it is that apparently some folks are giving up the scavenger hunt because they've heard the rumors about all the stuff crossed out here! I suppose this would be a good time to tell all of you clever GeoCachers (+1DFRE) that this was all a ruse designed to throw them off, and that I don't have all of the items I crossed out! To quote the A-Team's Hannibal: "I love it when a plan comes together!" Okay, so now I will now bask in the satisfaction of pulling off perhaps the most brilliant defensive maneuver since the "wall of porcupine spears" in Braveheart! To mangle up an old football saying: there's no offense, like a good defense. The more of them that quit, the better my chances are! Oh, and hey...here's a little somethin' for the stalkers! -----> Neener, Neener! RUN, suckers, RUN! Now, switching back to stealth mode... Link to comment
