Blank BM

No telling what happened but maybe there is future highway work pending that will destroy the mark set in the rock?

I have found 2, a (unknown year) USC&GS and a 1985 NGS BM in Michigan with no stamping on them. One had a designation (name) and the other was a reset disk that had no information available anywhere.

I suppose it could be. It was mid-span in the bridge which would allow horizontal flex though.

When I think back on this, it may be a box culvert.

No biggy!!

I ran into a recon team setting vertical control in 1996. One tech and a college intern with a utility truck (they were a week or two ahead of the level party) and were recovering and setting marks. The recon team was stamping and describing the marks. They had a photo-copy of a USGS quad map with the existing marks and new marks located. Said they were looking for a least 3 existing marks to come off of for their level lines to harbors of refuge and USCG CORS sites on the Great Lakes.

The level party consisted on 2 interns, 2 techs, 1 suburban and 2 motorbikes for the rod persons.
