New Icon for Challenge Caches!

I vote "YES". So far I have never run into a challange cache. Would be cool if it was easy to search for.

I would love it if they break out Challenge Caches from Unknown caches. I could filter out caches the puzzles that I don't want to attempt, but keep the challenges which I want to find.

I agree, if there is an icon to be made, there should be good guidelines or standards in place. I still would love to see an icon like this done. I just really like challenge caches... but non-lame ones are certainly better.

 

Better standards and/or enforcement of those standards would improve things.

 

You mean, like institute some sort of quality standard or "Wow!" Factor to Challenge Caches?

 

I think we've been down that road before

I don't think a "WOW" factor, or quality of the challenge or the Cache at the end, but just strict rules applied to qualify the Cache for the Icon(like there are for Earthcaches)

You can call it a WOW factor, or you can call it adequate educational material. Either way there are judgment calls that someone will have to make. Is that really what you want to have?

The majority of cachers is in favor of the proposal. On http://feedback.geocaching.com/forums/75775-geocaching-com/suggestions/1051865-challenge-cache-icon there have been many supporters. Groundspeak had already announce to take this into consideration. So far, they did nothing but destroy the user feedback ...

this issue has been brought up before...should the challenge caches get a unique icon (as opposed to the new challenges). I originally was fond of this idea and I think it could be implemented, but it would take a lot of effort to get it right.

 

One problem, there is no exact definition of what a "challenge" cache should be. Sure I think everyone would agree the Fizzy, Jasmer, etc, but there are many many challenges out there (as opposed to a series where you find a specific set of caches usually from the same CO) and some really push the envelope into what constitutes a challenge. Find 3 caches in one park?

 

Unless there is a set team ready to change all the current and archived challenges into right icons and come up with a well written definition, I do not think we need an icon for it. Asked the idea to Jeremy once at an event, lets just say he was in no way supportive of such an icon. Course, people change their minds over time.

 

PS. If there was such a team to have the ability to research, find, and convert said caches to the right icons, would love to volunteer my time to help out.
