+splashy
Is your barometer working in the longer run? Mine seems to be inaccurate after more than 1 day or an off and on cycle. Edited May 8, 2010 by splashy Quote Link to comment
+Unobtainium
You need to recalibrate the unit regularly. The interval depends on how quickly the atmospheric pressure is varying. There is the option to automatically calibrate, but this relies on the GPS altitude which is not going to be as accurate as the barometric altitude if calibrated correctly. Quote Link to comment
+splashy
Ok but even if I keep the GPS on the same altitude the barometer goes wrong after a few days. I try to find out if the function is just not working as I expect or is it me. What I want to know is this I set my 550 to a known pressure (airport), I DON'T let the gps lock and keep it inside. After a few days the reading should be the same as the pressure on that moment and that's where it goes wrong. The pressure shown most likely will be different. +Unobtainium
Have you set it to fixed elevation and auto calibration to off? Quote Link to comment
+splashy
In fact that's on, I wil use it off for a few days. Having it off, will it flow with the local pressure or will it stay with the input pressure? Edited May 8, 2010 by splashy Quote Link to comment
Wanthuyr Filho
Strange thing I've noticed also... The barometer doesn't have the option to be changed/calibrated (only altitude). And the pressure reading is certainly a few numbers off of an "official" barometer, at a sea level airport, for example... Ah, I'm talking about an Oregon 300. Quote Link to comment
+splashy
Maybe it's the pressure of our cities that makes the gps go mad. Quote Link to comment
