My step father currently has inoperaple/terminal cancer. I'm interested. Is it better to purchase direct from you or the store - as in which way do you get more money or doesn't it matter?

Hi there!

I'm sorry about your father's condition! I know how hard it is! I don't think there is any difference how you buy the coins. FYI, they should be in around April 9th. Do you know how many/what kind you'd like?

Thanks again

First and foremost, we are very sorry for your loss. I lost my father in June to colon cancer and my wife lost her mother July '08 to liver cancer. I also like the engraving option! We would probably purchase 3-4 of these.

Hi there!

I'm sorry to hear about your father and mother in law. I'm so glad you like the coins. Do you know what Kind/quantity you'd like. I'm reserving them now.

Thanks,

Hi!

Thanks for you interest! That engraving idea is wonderful! I really like it and may use it in the future. For this year, our first, we decided to do this in honor of my Brother. He loved to travel so we're sending his spirit round the world with a coin.

Sorry for your loss.

Having lost a couple of friends to cancer and with my half sister being a survivor I would be interested in a couple of them myself.

I really like the idea of using some of the money from the coins' sales to help the ACS, and the coin is a great design.

Not trying to be disrespectful or anything as I understand where your idea came from, but what if you were to remove your brothers name and dates from the coin and left it as a blank engravable area so that people who purchase this coin could have them custom engraved with a friend or loved ones name and dates?

Either way, you can count on me for at least 2 or 3 of these coins...

Hi there,

Part of the idea of this coin is to spread my brother's love of travel... sort of sending little bits of his spirit round the world.

I like your idea, though. Maybe we'll do an engravable one next year.

I just wanted to let you know that the coins are due in around April 9th. There are a couple of pictures in this post. If you let me know what kind/quantity you'd like, I will reserve them for you.

Many Thanks

I am so sorry for your loss. I, too, have lost a close friend to cancer. He was only 49.

Raising money for the American Cancer Society is a wonderful cause, of course, but I am also excited about buying some and releasing them to travel and spread awareness.

Nice coin. Just thought I'd point out a little typo before you make it. The word "remember" is missing an "m" on your coin. Other than that, it looks good.

Superb idea and a lovely coin. I lost my sister to cancer in 2006 - she was 39. Anything which raises money to support patients and their families during very dark days get's the thumbs-up from me!

I would certainly be interested.

Does anyone have helpful hints on how to promote and sell Geocoins? I created a coin that I'm using to raise funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society.

So far I've sold about 50. I'd like to sell all 225 in time for our Relay for Life event in June.

The minter, Geocoinstore, is carrying some, I've posted here on the forums, and offered them through eBay and the Relay for Life websites.

those who have received theirs are thrilled with them.

I'd love to sell out in time for the event.

The Flyer / Posting I've been using is below:

Any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated!

Merging duplicate threads, one coin, one thread, (even if the sale is not as quick as you wish, so I kept the newest title for the thread, clci on report on the first post if you ever want to change it, and tell us what you want it to be)

I accidentally merged two separate Breast Cancer geocoin threads together, and I have split them up and put them all back together, and I hope I have everyone's posts in the correct threads. Sorry about the mix up. Thank you to Erik K for pointing out the mix up to me.

No biggie. I think both of these coins were kind of discussed in one thread originally. Hopefully having them seperated will help avoid any confusion over which coin is being discussed. :)

Last year we lost my brother Frankie to Cancer. He was only 44 years old. Losing him deeply affected our entire family. When we looked around, we saw many other families going through the same tragedy and decided to do something about it. We are entering the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.

Using Frankie's 'handle' - Moxie Man, and his passion for acting, and his military background, we've designed a Geocoin that will be used to raise funds for The American Cancer Society. The coin will be trackable at geocaching.com.

gecoindraftcopy4.jpg

THE MONEY WE RAISE will help ensure that the American Cancer Society continues to meet the growing demand for its services - free rides to and from cancer treatments, temporary lodging near treatment centers, help finding clinical trials and affordable insurance, summer camps for children and teens with cancer, and so much more.

I'm planning to have the coins available by spring 2010. The coins will go for $10 each. We will also have some limited edition coins that will be auctioned off.

I'd like to get an idea of how much interest folks have in purchasing the coin. Please chime in with your thoughts!

:o

Thank You!

Barbara

My first thought was that you will probably need permission to use the purple ribbon. It's a great cause but these Orgs treat their branding and logos very seriously.

Barbara, I thought you'd like to know, tonight our town (Penetanguishene) is celebrating it's Relay of Life event. We are just a small town of 9000 but about a third of the town is out walking, singing, and just enjoying life, it's just wonderful.

So tonight our cousin is walking, she is also a cacher so as an incentive and to keep her focused in the wee hours of the morning I gifted her your coin. I need not tell you her reaction but that coin will travel tonight and it will warm a heart, thank you for developing this wonderful coin in memory of your brother and all the others we've lost to cancer.
