+dnmoser Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 I would like to be able to track the caches that I have downloaded but have not logged yet. My family and I like to download several caches at a time to hunt whenever we get a chance. I would like to see a feature in the All Geocaches search result, possibly where the red check marks for completed caches are, that I would immediately recognize as a cache that I have downloaded so that I don't waste a lot of time searching through details that I already have seen. Just an idea we had. Looking forward to other cachers comments.
+dakboy Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 The overhead (and room for error/omission) of the site tracking this for you makes it completely impractical. Use the Pocket Queries you get with your premium membership and software to manage that data.

I think that since they track the caches that I have logged (with the big red checkmark) they could track the ones I've downloaded in a similar way. Perhaps have the checkmark a different color when its downloaded and changes when its logged. As for the overhead, make the option available to premium members that are paying anyway. The error/ omission is no different for tracking what I've downloaded than it is for what I've logged.
+Lil Devil Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 There are at least 8 different ways to download caches. Some of those methods will yield hundreds of caches. I typically get a couple of thousand caches at a time. Next week I travel to a new area and download a few thousand more. Each time I clear my GPS completely, so I don't want the website to try to remember what I have, since I don't have it anymore.
+pppingme Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 You should assume anything you've downloaded is invalid shortly after you download it. Only go caching with fresh data. Otherwise you will be looking for archived and disabled caches. Because of this, there is no reason to track what you've downloaded. If you want to maintain an "I'm actively looking" type list, bookmarks may be the answer, but even then, re-download daily.
