ArtMan
Here's part of an entry that puzzles me: HV8434''DESCRIBED BY FAIRFAX COUNTY VIRGINIA 1969 (HWC) HV8434''STATION NEVER OCCUPIED. The data sheet then goes on to describe in detail the location of the traverse station disk. A 1993 recovery note by US Power Squadron says mark not found. What does this mean, station never occupied? Quote Link to comment
survey tech
Note that the name of this marker is Lee RM1, which indicates that it was originally set to reference TS Lee. Reference marks are seldom occupied, unless the Tri-station is subsequently lost. To occupy the point means to set up the surveying instrument over it and make observations to various other points from there. A point that has never been occupied is considered to be of a lesser order, since no measurements have been made directly from it to verify its location. Quote Link to comment
