Exchange for travelbugs and coins?

Hi, what is the right thing to do when finding travel bug and geocoins? Should you leave something of the value that the travelbug is attached to? The bugs seem to be atached to much better stuff than the rest of the things?

Or nothing at all as its a traveling item?

And when we drop them, do we exchange the TB for something or not?

We dropped off 3 things for the 2 x TBs we found today, just want to know the right thing

Thanks - Geoff.

A TB or geocoin is not a swap, you can pick them up and do not have to leave anything in it's place (but yo're kind, so you did anyway.). Equally you should not be logging "took nice pen, left geocoin", as you're depleting the cache contents.

On the other hand, if it's a TB hotel, sometimes the cache owners prefer you not to take out more TB's that you leave, or at the very least leave one in it, otherwise it would a Norman Bates motel. ;)

TB Hotels with this kind of requirement are better known as TB Prisons. The reviewers might well ask for restrictive language of that kind to be removed. TBs want to travel, and they belong to their owners; the owner of the cache where they are currently located has no say in what happens to them.

Imagine this log if you were the owner of the TB:

"Found the TB Hotel, didn't take the only TB as the cache says not to or bad things will happen. Shame really, as the TB wants to go to Chile and I'm off there next week. Still, it'll probably get there eventually, cachers fly to Chile all the time."

I guess there's a big difference between the idea of "leave at least one" in the sense of finding 12 TBs and only taking 10 of them, and "leave at least one" in the sense of finding 1 TB and not taking it.

Travel bugs are not trade items. You are not required to leave trinkets (swag, trade, mctoys) or another TB in its place, but you can if you like. Just don't leave TBs and take trinkets.

If you can assist a bug towards its goal it doesn't matter if you take 2 or 20.

MOVE THOSE BUGS!
