Forum search WORTHLESS

Why is the search feature so crippled?

If I enter even one work under 5 characters it will not search.

There are searches for info that I would like to run but can not because of this.

Example: Tonight I am trying to get the updates loaded on a Geomate.Jr

I get an error message " dbase bad load". How the heck am I suppose to do an accurate search for this error message when the search feature will not allow it? :)

Yeah, it's kind of weird. Do your search with a "+" between the words. For example:

dbase+bad+load

They do this to ease load on the servers, apparently. Personally, I think it's rubbish (fix the problem is the answer!), but them's the rules. You need to search using Google using the site: keyword. So, if you want to search the forum for the word PDA you'd type into Google:

PDA site:http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/

Note that there is NO space between the colon and the http:// bit.

This should work. It's not a solution, but a workaround.

Actually, all you need is:

PDA site:forums.Groundspeak.com

Yup, pretty much.

You might get better results by enclosing your search string in single quotations...but no guarantees there.

forum search is not anywhere close to google search, full sentences will not work in a forum search because there are too many common words in a sentence...like "and" "or" "i" etc...so the search gets confused by the overwhelming possible results and spits an error

try key words and also this may be of help
