Oregon 450 car adapter just USB adapter?

Hi all,

 

I just received my new Oregon 450, and need a car adapter. I can't tell by looking at Garmin's site, but is their car adapter simply a USB car adapter? Or is it some form of proprietary cable we have to get from Garmin?

It's wired a little differently. A "normal" USB adapter could put your Oregon into USB drive mode. The reason, and how to work around :

If your adapter does put the unit into mass storage mode, use the spanner mode and then the unit will ask you what you want to do. Well my 550 does anyway.

Or get a HTC cable. It seems to be equivalent to Garmin's, as it works like a charm. Maybe cables from some other brands might behave similarly.
