+The Blorenges
It just means that a person logs a TB into a cache that it has visited, then retrieves it straight out again. Cachers like to do this if they are carrying someone's TB along with them as they cache, so it gets the mileage for each individual cache that is visited. Some cachers have their own personal TB (or geocoin) that they use in this way to (roughly) track their own total geocaching mileage. MrsB Edited April 13, 2010 by The Blorenges Quote Link to comment

+HouseOfDragons
I have a personal coin like MrsB describes. I always delete the "TB dip" log if there is one so that it doesn't clutter up the logs. Quote Link to comment

That's personal preference. If your TB is in a distance travelled race then Dipping would be most welcome I'd imagine! Quote Link to comment

MrsB Can this be done retrospectively? Eg, activate a trackable now and dip it in previously logged caches to provide total mileage? Quote Link to comment

Yes, you would just post a Note using the date you had found the cache. Keep in mind, back-logging is very tedious. Quote Link to comment

markandlynn
It is possible to drop a tb in without posting a separate log and retrieve it afterwards, im always surprised when i get a tb dip note straight after a found it log, why not drop it in when you post the found log ?? and then retrieve ?? +Delta68
What we do is: When marking a cache as found on the Oregon, we add the tracking code of any tb we're leaving as a comment. I then have a Greasemonkey script (which I wrote) which automatically selects the trackable(s) from the dropdown when logging the find using the field notes. (It also adds our find count to the end of each log as well ) Mark Quote Link to comment
