Benchmarks in Australia

I found a benchmark in Australia.

 

Is there anything I can do with it?

 

Is anybody interested?

 

It was about 20 metres from (Kings) Outlook.

I have noted it's position & taken a couple of photo's

See if you can get a database of the coords and location descriptions of all the benchmarks from the government.

 

How about posting a benchmark pic to that cache? I'd love to see what an Australian benchmark looks like.

I will, just as soon as I can get my camera to part with it.

Can I put this find up as a virtual cache for now or should I just put it in the logs of the cache that's very close to it?

Well for now, you could just post the pic to the cache you already logged.

 

A virtual cache for the benchmark is a great idea and when you make it, you could delete the pic from the other cache and put it with your virtual cache.

From reading the mark it looks like Queensland placed the mark and probably maintains the database. You could check with them to see if the data is on-line or if yu can get a copy of their database. I bet they would put it up here if you can get it.

Buried deep in the PDF of their annual catalog of available products, I came across this:

They don't have much yet & what they do have is

a bit techo IE: surveyor type stuff.

I've been too busy with work to follow it any further.
