markstickley
Hi! I'm fairly new to Geocaching but I've kinda got into it! I was hoping to find a way to get my most recent finds onto my personal site, in the same way that I can get my most recent photos from flickr, most recently listened to tracks from last.fm etc etc etc. Is there a developer API available so that I can do this at all? Many thanks! Link to comment

+Chrysalides
What jholly said. And doing it any other way would violate the terms of use regarding screen scraping. If you want to do it manually, you can download the LOC of your finds, 20 at a time, through this link: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?ul=markstickley Then run it through a script to generate the HTML. markstickley
Thanks guys, it's pretty much as I expected although good to know for sure. I'll go down the manual route for now until the t&c's get a bit more developer friendly. Link to comment

Go to "Your Profile", and it's on the right hand side. Right click and select "Copy Image Location", and use that within the src attribute of an <img /> tag. As far as I'm aware, this is allowed. Obviously, it only shows how many finds and hides you have, no individual stats... Link to comment
+niraD
You mean like this? http://boulter.com/basecamp/blog/niraD It's based on the "My Finds" PQ. Link to comment
markstickley
Good idea for the status badge! Yes, niraD, very similar to that indeed! Is that the result of a manual import or have you automated it somehow? Link to comment
+Chrysalides
If it is based on his "My Finds", he'll have to request for it every week and either have it mailed to an email account that processes it automatically, or upload it himself to a site that does. Either way that site would need the blessing of Groundspeak because otherwise sharing of a GPX generated by the site is verboten. My Finds is only available if you are a premium member. And you can only request it once every week. I'd be happy to be shown I'm wrong though Link to comment
+niraD
As Chrysalides indicates, you have to request the special "My Finds" PQ every week. It will be emailed to your primary email account, so unless you're using the Geocaching Basecamp email address as your primary email address, you'll also need to forward that PQ to Geocaching Basecamp every week. There are ways to automate that, depending on your email system, but I haven't found a way to automate the weekly "My Finds" PQ. Link to comment

Many thanks! If you log your finds via the cell phone interface (SMS), you can have it auto-update a geocaching-only twitter account, then you can hit the twitter account to update your personal web site. It's better than nothing but does put a bit more effort into your hands. I think you sms the GC code to a special account, and because you've granted Groundspeak Inc. permission to update your twitter account, it then auto-tweets your current location and GC code find status. I haven't done it in a while, but I think you can also update other things directly from twitter, and there may be other sites where you can update your finds. You can also submit the SMS's after you get home from caching if it gets to become a burden out in the field. Link to comment
