+Jacksters
Hi, I'm a newbie to geocaching and think it's great fun! I have sent my first TB's out into the big wide world and the person who has picked one of them up has kindly posted a photo and promised to move it on for me in the next few days. I just wondered whether it was 'the done thing' to send a message to the person who has done this to thank them or whether it breaks any geocaching rules of etiquette? Any advice would be appreciated. Quote Link to comment
+Kry102001
It's perfectly fine to message the person who has picked up the TB and say thanks, it isn't a requirement, but, a little bit of gratitude is always welcomed. I have done it myself and never had any complaints, so, it is totally your choice. Quote Link to comment
+Gitchee-Gummee
Not necessary, but if you appreciate their actions, it would be a nice gesture. We have had it go both ways, giving and receiving. Quote Link to comment

I feel that it may also make sure that your bug doesn't go missing as easy. If you make it feel a bit personal by letting them know that you are watching it move and are excited, then they may be more likely to make sure it gets into a cache (even a local one, if they didn't make their planned drop). Even the slightest mention of 'make sure you move it along quickly' comes across and controlling and trying to micro-manage your bug from afar. Very annoying, and you don't want to annoy people holding your bug. Quote Link to comment
+BBWolf+3Pigs
I've sent thanks for when a cacher posts a cool picture, or gives it a big jump or gets it to a goal. Likewise I've received emails when I am able to do the same thing with a Traveler. Quote Link to comment
+KLETCO
As someone who loves moving TBs, I know when I've posted photos and/or moved a bug to someplace cool, I would have liked to have heard something back, but I haven't ever had anyone say thanks Quote Link to comment
