+Hilldrop
Hey Forum, I'm just getting into geocaching and I'm purchasing my first GPS. I was looking at some and the Garmin Colorado 300 caught my eye and I am wondering If this is a good choice. Was looking at it here, seems like a good price http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronic...=Price&fb=0 If anyone has any thoughts on whether or not this is a good idea or if there would be any better options in the £200 price range. Or anywhere that might be cheaper to buy these units that would be fantastic. Any advice will be helpful Quote Link to comment
MtnHermit
I have a CO 300, my 3rd GPS, I like it. I got it one year after it was introduced, so all the bugs were worked out. From what I've read, the touchscreen OR is a better product and you would be happier with it, if you can find it at an acceptable price. Good Luck. Quote Link to comment

+Hilldrop
Thanks for the advice, but that looks like it pushes out of my price range ... And i cant work out if something like the 300 has paperless geocache .... Quote Link to comment
+Red90
Yes, it has paperless Geocaching. Whether or not it is worse or better than the Oregons is a matter of personal preference. Quote Link to comment

The Colorado rocks in my book. It's been one of my "go to "gps's for some time now. You'd be hard pressed to find a GPS with the feature set the Colorado has at the prices advertised for it. The best prices I've seen have been at Rocketcamera.com and CascadeGPS.com around $239. Go for it. N Quote Link to comment
+mcfc
I'm looking to buy this too. Not that I know anything about the GPS !! Found this site http://www.handtec.co.uk/product.php?xProd=1649 Possibly cheaper. Good luck. Quote Link to comment
+CelticDave
I would go with the OR over the CO. I say that having owned four COs before giving up on them. The OR has been pretty solid. Are you in the GeoWoodstock Pack? Quote Link to comment

Are you in the GeoWoodstock Pack? I agree. I own the Oregon 450 and I am very happy. Yes, it is still a little buggy, but I believe the issues will be resolved soon. Touchscreen is a huge step forward in GPSr's IMO. It makes entering waypoints WAY easier. Not to mention the amazing high-res display on the Oregon. And BTW, Garmin is currently offering a $50 rebate on the oregon x50 series.... Quote Link to comment
