+rogbarn
I have downloaded several groups of benchmarks from the search for several differnt locations, including 5 different states. There is a total of 1,881 records. I summarized them by type to see what I could see. I found 48 different types. I further summerized these 48 types as follows: disk - has the word "disk" in the type 13 types; 1,259 records or 67% most common - survey disk bench mark disk traverse station disk small markers - other markers but not disks 11 types; 158 records or 8.4 % most common - metal rod bolt nail landmarks - large structures that don't have a specific marker, just used in surveying 21 types; 125 records or 6.6 % most common - church spire tank stack unknown - aka Not Listed and a couple of other minor types 3 types; 339 records or 18.0 % Note that this is not a scientific analysis since it is only examining less than 1,900 records out of a database of 735,000 records (about .03 % sample). Also, I had to use some judgement in how I catagorized some types. But I thought some might find it interesting. Quote Link to comment
