Barefootmoon
a cache extractor! I see in descriptions people say bring a cache extractor, but I can't seem to figure out what that is exactly. I am newer to caching. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
+Gitchee-Gummee
Probably referring to a mechanic's tool that allows one to reach down or into, push a spring loaded plunger to extend 3 (or more) hook-like fingers. Releasing the plunger allows the fingers to grab and extract whatever (a bolt, nut, tool). I just don't remember what it is called. Could also reference to tweezers needed to extract the log from a teeny-tiny, oh-so-small cache. Edited April 2, 2010 by Gitchee-Gummee Quote Link to comment
+GrateBear
Or a magnet on some type of extension. Quote Link to comment
+HawkLawless1
tweezers or pliers. A Leatherman is a good thing to throw in your backpack. Quote Link to comment
NordicMan
A cache extractor is actually an expensive high tech robotic rover that you control from your living room sofa that send out to find and extract/log & cache. It's similar to the rover NASA sent to Mars a few years ago but is a bit larger, and almost as expensive. I'm surprised you haven't seen one yet, but then again their design is quite stealthy. .. just kidding! Quote Link to comment
+StarBrand
Usually tweezers. ....but I'd be safe and bring the robotic arm as well. Quote Link to comment
+stites1
According to my wife, that'd be me. I get to stick appendages into places clearly not meant for them to see if perhaps someone stuck a tupperware down (or up) there. Quote Link to comment
