BOG BEARS
Do people count the caches that have been set by youself in the total numbers of finds count? . IE in FindStatGen micro in GSAK. Just a thought. Kind regards, Edited March 31, 2010 by BOG BEARS Quote Link to comment
+StarBrand
No. Simple logic - you never 'looked' for it - you know where it is. You just hid it - therefore it doesn't count as a 'find'. Quote Link to comment

Must admit in the past I have had trouble finding my set caches. Some are rather hard to find Quote Link to comment

IE in FindStatGen micro in GSAK. No, FSG (and all of the other stats programs) does not count hides as a find - unless you log a find in it, which is generally frowned on. Just a thought. Kind regards, No, you are not supposed to log your own geocaches as found-it. It's different with events, which are attended, not found. GermanSailor Quote Link to comment
Mr.Yuck
I have seen 2 or 3, lets just say eccentric people, who have done it. One of them appears as though he really wanted to up his find count. But no, I'd say 99.9% of Geocachers don't do it. At least from what I've seen. Quote Link to comment

GermanSailor Apparently it's also an accepted practice to log finds on caches placed as part of a team on a power trail. Quote Link to comment

+briansnat
But no, I'd say 99.9% of Geocachers don't do it. At least from what I've seen. It's actually 98.7645 % Quote Link to comment
+Gitchee-Gummee
I can think of one exception. That would be in the case of adopting a cache after you have already found it. EDIT: Your "found it" log stands, even though you now own it. Edited April 1, 2010 by Gitchee-Gummee Quote Link to comment
+popokiiti
I would say "Nay Nay." We know of someone who does because "it costs me money to put caches out." That is their choice, but not mine or most other cachers we know. Quote Link to comment
Clan Riffster
It's actually 98.7645 % Your data is old. I crunched the numbers after the owners of the 600 cache power trail logged finds on them. The new percentage is 98.7644. Quote Link to comment
+TheWeatherWarrior
I did count one cache of my own.....because over time the cache got way out of the area I placed it, and I had to spend 30 minutes to find it (to update/maintain it). I do have finds on caches I adopted, before or after the actual adoption. Quote Link to comment
+narcissa
Around here it's accepted practice to log a find on a cache that you used to own, i.e. if you move and let someone adopt it. Quote Link to comment

+WatchDog2020
No, but our newest could be a 'legal' find for us because we have a 'family account' It's a multi that my oldest son and I placed without any help what so ever from the wife and the youngest son. So, since we have finds that she and I have done alone, if the wife and youngest son went for it I'm guessing we could legitimately get our own - (but we don't plan on logging the find after she goes) Quote Link to comment
