+keehotee
Memory Map Adventure 2800 GPS unit Has anybody tried one of these yet and if so how compatable is it with caching? Hello Richard There've been a few reviews on this gps on here over the past few months (but typically I can't actually find them at the moment). General concensus seems to be avoid like the plague for anything caching related - or even walking, if you're going to be out for longer than 6 hours...... Quote Link to comment
+londontavern
Copy of my original post :- http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...=238933&hl= Do not buy this unit for Geocaching. It is simply not geocache friendly in any way whatsoever. As a general purpose gps it probably gets about 4 out of 10 (generous). As for being user friendly 0 out of 10 (no instructions / not intuitive). You will also need reading glasses for the drop down menus. The touch screen prodder which you will need to use in the field is a must have item and please don't loose or drop it (sausage fingers are useless for the touch screen). Cannot replace flat batteries, so for more than 6 hour use you will need the battery extension pack (mobile with wheels). No option to display 'direction up' always north up. You are also sucked into using Memory Maps, there may be work a around for loading 'free' maps but no hacker instructions yet. Gone on long enough, this unit is simply a PDA to display Memory Maps. A PDA running Memory Map is the best geocaching tool you could wish for. Have they somehow crippled this unit to make it as poor as you allege? Quote Link to comment

They have if it's anything like a Satmap Quote Link to comment
