+LittleLady12
Today I found a benchmark purely by mistake while visiting family in central Nebraska. I have searched and searched but have not been able to locate the benchmark page if it has one or find any information out about it based upon the suggested websites. Here is what is listed on the benchmark... At top - State of Nebraska Dept of Roads Middle - 2348.87 Bottom - Benchmark This is all it says so it makes it hard to find online. At this point in time, I am not able to post pictures. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance! Quote Link to comment
Okie'sKid
There are many benchmarks out there that do not have PIDs and are, therefore, not in the database. Knocking around Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho, I've run across many, many, many state Road, Highway, and/or Transportation Department benchmarks and control points that are not PIDed. Without making an actual study of stats, I'd go out on a limb and say: It's the RARE Highway Deptartment mark that DOES get into the database. Here's a Recent Post on the same subject. You could always WayMark it. (Or, is it WayPoint?) Cheers! Quote Link to comment
AZcachemeister
Having found hundreds of marks placed by the AZDOT, I would not say they are so rare. The rarity part comes into play when considering the ones that have not been wiped out by construction projects, since many of the older ones were placed in culvert headwalls. To the OP: Knowing the actual co-ordinates might help determine if it's in the database or not. Usually the stamped elevation (2348.87) on a mark like this becomes the designation, but you can't count on that. Quote Link to comment
+LittleLady12
Thank you both so much for all your help!! This was found on a bridge in very good condition. Today I will go back out and find the coordinates which would probably help me. Didn't even think about that yesterday!! Edited March 23, 2010 by LittleLady12 Quote Link to comment
