jdeasterly
Hello, I'm a bit of a newbie and am taking the kids to London during Easter hols And rather than pay the exorbitant prices for some attractions (Mamma Mia 4 Tickets £260+! ), thought geocaching could be a good way to see the sights of London. Are there any routes, caches, trails etc that go past the London Eye as that's near to where we are staying? thanks in advance! Quote Link to comment
+Simply Paul
You can do a great circular walk along the Thames picking up caches along the way, crossing over (the Millennium Footbridge for a shorter walk, Tower Bridge for a longer one) and coming back along the opposite bank caching as you go again. Have a look at googlemaps to see some targets. You could even extend the walk (if your kids are up for a longer stroll) by overshooting the London Eye/Westminster Bridge and continuing west. I like to get as far as Battersea Park and the disused power station -as seen on Dr Who- and then cross back onto the other embankment again- gives a different view of London, with the MI5 building, giant house-boats and a few more caches. Have a fun day out! Quote Link to comment

Thank you so much - that looks a great route, just one thing though, is it possible to view googlemaps with the caches on them so I can plan a route or is it a case of making a route and then looking for nearby caches? Thank you! Quote Link to comment
+The Blorenges
Try this... Go to any cache in the area. e.g. Try GCE387 The Palace of Westminster. Scroll half way down the page to the second map... To the left side of the map click on Geocaching.com Google map. That'll give you the area with all nearby caches showing. Scroll around that map and pan in and out to survey all the possibilities. +zarbi&zarbibird
We set up a couple of puzzle caches in London with children in mind. They are at the Science museum (GC1NZW2) and the Natural History museum (GC1NZWR), both free admission. You might like to have a go at them? Enjoy our great capital city, whatever you decide to do. Let's hope the sun shines! Edited March 19, 2010 by zarbi&zarbibird Quote Link to comment

+PSHAX
Don't forget that kids are great "urban camo"... They really do make it easy to hunt for caches.... Well, as long as you make them hunt in the most public and muggle obvious places! Quote Link to comment
