Guest Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I saw the PN 60 is due out in june with a menu similar to the iPhone, icons which look rather cool and easy to navigate. I'm not a techie, so I have no idea what firmware really does, but is it possible that a new firmware release will update the PN-40's menu/pages to be similar to the PN 60s? Quote
+dakboy Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Firmware is the software on the device that makes all the magic happen. DeLorme has already announced that the earlier PN-series devices will not get the PN-60 user interface. There will be a firmware update for them when TopoUSA 9 is released, but the look & feel will not change. Quote

That is my one complaint with the PN-40, I like to have a menu, but the PN 40 just has pages. The great thing with the PN series is you can put only what you want in the page button. When I hit page I scroll through Map, Satalite, Geocache, and Compass. If I want Waypoints or anything else I go into the menu. You can set yours up to display what you want. Quote
