+The AIIM Team
If I found a metal rod protruding from the ground within 10 feet of the last described location of a mark, did I find it? Are some of these just rebar looking rods? BC1420 As you can see from my log, it seems the concrete light pole and fire hydrant have been moved. I a little unlikely that a concrete power pole would have been moved but there was a wood fence and a newish housing development there, too! So, ya think I found it or whut? Thanks! The A.I.M. +jeff35080
You may have found the rod the disk was once attached onto, but not the actual benchmark since it is/was a disk. Happy hunting! +The AIIM Team
I see now that it was a tidal station disk on a rod. The only way I know to prove it is the right spot is to cover the whole area with a metal detector. Which I do not own. I wonder where you can rent one for a weekend!? Things are very different there than in 1992. The light poles have different names, no more concrete building, new retention pond and drainage ditch along road, 1983 fire hydrant. The A.I.M.
