How do you get a little icon for your coin on the geocaching site? Mine just shows a generic coin picture. How do you get the picture of what the coin represents?

I believe that you need to pay an extra 150.00 to Groundspeak for an unique icon when you have the coin minted....not sure but, that is my understanding of it.

The maker of the coin decides whether to create a custom icon for their coin..

 

As said above there is a charge of 150 for the icon so many coins come with just the generic icon...

 

It appears that the coin you have only has a generic icon...

That's it. The little golden coin is the icon for your Maryland coin, albeit a generic icon. Custom icons are an extra expense in the coin making process.

as noted above, a custom icon requires a one-time payment of $150 to Groundspeak

absent this fee, you get the generic icon

 

it should probably also be pointed out that an icon is not automatically created by Groundspeak

the coin creator/owner/maker is also responsible for creating icon art and submitting it along with the $150

 

this does not need to be done at the same time as the coin artwork submission and name selection

you may get through that part at one point in time, and then "upgrade" your default icon at a later date

And if this is a new coin with an icon, sometimes it takes a little while for the icons to be uploaded, so they will show up in time.
