Handlebar mount for eTrex Summit HC

I want to mount my Garmin Summit HC on my bike but I'm confused about which kit to buy. The standard eTrex mount doesn't seem to spec for the Summit HC. I've seen some references to another part but it apparently requires a plastic piece that was in the original box -- I don't have this anymore.

You could always contact Garmin. They sent one out to me for free. They also sent out, for free, a new button for my 60csx to clip into the belt clip. They are pretty good at sending out small items for free.

I bought the one recommended as the accessory for my Summit HC directly from the Garmin site. You get a new battery door for your Summit HC that latches to a bracket that clamps to your handle bar with 2 foam inserts. Be careful using it -- assure it's actually clamped before you take off.

 

At the time I bought mine (August '09), the kit was $17.99, and showed both the Summit HC and handlebar ends of the business. I no longer see this on their web site for any of the more recent eTrex models.

 

Well, you say you have part of it. By any chance do you have the replacement battery door that fits to the Summit HC itself? If so, the handlebar part of the equation can be purchased here: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=1057&ra=true or you can get the larger one if you need it. If that's not what you've got, that's the piece to be looking for in your junk drawer! It looks like the original battery door but includes a latch for the handlebar clip.

 

While I wouldn't swear to it, it appears from their web store that they have discontinued it. I'd CALL them and find out what's happened to this product.

I have purchased various mounts from GPSCity and have been very pleased with the selection, etc. You can get extra clips for the HCx series, etc. Look around the website for anything you want.
