Just starting in Bucks UK

Just been inspired to try some geocaching. Have no GPS adn would like some guidance as to what is best. My local shop says they are not stocking Garmin any more and recommend Satmap or memory map or even an iphone.

 

Any thoughts.

i goten a cheaper one to save money but to0k it back because of it can not download the info to find the cach;s i was told to get a Garmin and i bought one i am telling you itsgreat so i have a Garmin - eTrex Vista

im new to this myself and i have an iphone. it works ok on green caches but not to good on yellow caches. my advise would be look up on the forum the one people use the most then get on ebay (or other auction site) and get it cheap. happy hunting

green - traditional cache

yellow - multi (have to go to various waypoints to get clues to work out the final destination).

 

How much money do you have to spend on a device? for a cheap no thrills you can pick up and etrex h off ebay for 40 quid second hand, or paperless caching something like an oregon 200/300 or a garmin csx (black thing with protruding antenna.
