+cat_e_bear Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I used to get a highlighted *NEW* beside the new caches when I logged in. now there is nothing to indicate. Is it just me or everyone? Quote

+burtsbodgers Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 No its not just you, every now and then i get the same. One day a new cache has the "new" and the next not, the "new" used to stay up for about a week. But at the moment i have noticed that some "new" caches dont have it at all, while others do. So not sure what is going on. Quote
+The Blorenges Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 I think it's to do with the cache placement date on the Report a New Cache form: If you create your cache submission form on e.g. 27th February and put that date in the box, then you play around with the cache page to get it correct, submit it for review on e.g. the 28th Feb and it gets published on 1st March then it gets a "New" tag beside it. But if you leave it too long (over a week, I think) and it doesn't get submitted and published until e.g. 9th March then it won't get labelled as "New" because it's been published more than a week after its "placed date". I'm not certain about this but I think that's the reason. Maybe some other cacher can confirm this... or not? MrsB Quote

MrsB That was my understanding too MrsB - and it's certainly been the case on caches I've worked on for over a week before publishing. Actually - sometimes in the past I've used it deliberately to confound locals Quote

It keys off the date placed so if it took a few days for the reviewer to publish it, or the cache owner spent a few days playing with the cache page before activating it, the "new" tag may be there LT 7 days or not at all. Some cache owners will edit the date placed to match the date published so they get the full 7 day of new status. Quote
