joelbarrett
Found this while doing training for Search and Rescue K9s. Can anyone tell me what it is? I found it in Brookrun Park, Dunwoody, Dekalb County, metro Atlanta area. Thanks, Joel Barrett Quote Link to comment
foxtrot_xray
Hey Joel, That's a really big one! Seriously, that's a marker set by the state's DOT. They use that type of disk and another that actually has "Road Department" on it quite often. USUALLY they're not in the NGS database, so you can't log them here. More often than not they're used in highway and town projects throughout the state. (Being from Georgia originally, I cam across these far far too often.) Hope the dogs passed! - Mike. Bill93
It is a benchmark set by the state of Georgia, and quite likely not submitted for inclusion in the NGS data base. Besides the elevation, it appears to have some sort of horizontal values, but it isn't readily apparent to me what system they are in. Perhaps some local system since they don't seem to be State Plane Coordinates or UTM. Quote Link to comment
AZcachemeister
Bottom line... Make a waymark out of it! Quote Link to comment
