edit: probably the same reason my dad bought his new hunting knife with an orange handle instead of black... harder to lose =P

Actually, the PN-30 does come in Realtree. You just have to give up the electronic compass and altimeter. However, at the current prices on Amazon, the PN-40 is definately the better deal. The 40 is only $15 dollars more.

Yep. I'm disappointed that the PN-60s will come in very dark colors. I've never worried about losing track of my 40 on the ground.

I've wondered before why GPSr units came in camo. Almost as much sense as camo underwear.

 

But then... that extra 5 - 10 bucks goes to those who first copyright the pattern.

I once laid my grey eTrex Vista down on a grey rock on a large grey rock outcrop. It took me almost an hour to find it again.

 

I definitely appreciate the orange PN40. On my 60CSX I tied a small piece of orange flagging tape to the antenna, which helps me find it when I put it down.

Lost my 60CSx in the woods once, took a month and probably a dozen trips to find it. It was uncovered in leaves, so I really like the orange on the PN40 too.
