Magellan Explorist 500 LE

Have been using this gps infrequently for one year without problems. Recently turned it on for a cache mission and screen says "unit currently contains no map! initiating map upload" but it is not connected to my pc. Seems to be stuck on this page and wont allow me to do anything unless I remove batteries, and then the same problem occurs.

Magellan website and tech support have been no help. Anyone familiar with this problem who could lend advice?

I have the same model, and have not seen this error (fortunately) ... but, I wonder if there might be an issue with your sd card. Maybe try formatting a different sd card, put it in and upload your map onto it. At least this could eliminate one of the variables. Good luck.

Go to "tritonforum.com" and ask your question there in the "Other Magellan" section. I have a 210 and a 400, and learned tons from them there. It's the ultimate q & a website, they're super good with Magellans.

Thanks. I have not been using an sd card though. I've tried a few diff things so far with no luck. Hopefully you won't encounter this problem.
