+Corfman Clan Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 (edited) I posted this in the GPS and Technology forum but I think it may be more appropriate here. I was attempting to set up using the SMS text based system described here. I sent the text message, "GEOC" to 41411 as described but I got the response: The shortcode you are attempting to use has expired and is no longer a valid shortcode. Msg 1051. I use Sprint and so it appears that Sprint does not recoginze 41411 as a valid destination for an SMS message. Is anyone else having a problem texting to 41411? If so are you using Sprint or a different carrier? Thanks Edited February 3, 2010 by Corfman Clan
+webscouter. Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Try it without the " marks, the correct message is Geoc
+Corfman Clan Posted February 3, 2010 Author Posted February 3, 2010 Just to reiterate, this has nothing to do with the content of the message, but has to do with the destination for the message. I am unable to send any message to the destination address 41411 since Sprint does not consider it a valid shortcode. Are you able to text a message to 41411 and what is your carrier? Thanks!
Skippermark Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 AT&T for me, and it works fine. Just tried to get a hint on a cache, and it replied back that there was no hint available and that I'm on my own.

Sprint user here. Working just fine. I think the first time I tried to send a text message to a SMS short code when I got this Sprint contract about 2 years ago, Sprint had all short codes blocked by default, and I had to call customer service. Could have just been me though.
+pppingme Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Sprint has a reputation of blocking short codes, and that is the message you get when they are blocked. Call 611 from the affected phone and bug them to remove the block.
+Corfman Clan Posted February 3, 2010 Author Posted February 3, 2010 Ok, thanks. Sprint did have that short code blocked for me. I gave them a call and they unblocked the number.
