DragonsWest
I see a scattering of Oregon 450 units on eBay, not listed as pre-sale. How is this possible? Evaluation units? The last thing I have read says these are not on sale until April. Quote Link to comment
MaliBooBoo
I think they actually were delivered around Jan 21st. Quote Link to comment
DragonsWest
I think they actually were delivered around Jan 21st. Amazon has them listed as Pre-Sale, so I'm still wondering about that. I can't see Amazon sitting on pallets of these for a couple of months, not with their business model. Quote Link to comment
g-o-cashers
They have been one sale at some retailers since the 21st. GPSCity has them in stock. I still have yet to see one or talk to someone who has one! GO$Rs Quote Link to comment

GeekBoy.from.Illinois
A local REI employee posted in our local Geocaching forums that they have them at their store now. I'm guessing that Garmin is shipping to some retailers now, and will be shipping to all by the March or April date... Quote Link to comment
sapboiler
I bought one last weekend at EMS love it Quote Link to comment

Yeah, REI has them in stock as of yesterday and many stores already have received them. Head into one of the REI stores and check them out! Quote Link to comment
big_fig
I bought one last weekend at EMS love it How do you like the screen? Garmin rep at CES told me that it has a new screen that is better than the Dakota series. Quote Link to comment
Redwoods Mtn Biker
Amazon is often very slow at getting new units into their system, trailing smaller vendors by a week or two. Quote Link to comment
hondaatvrider
Hi sapboiler: Can you give a quick review of the 450? I am ready to upgrade from my etrex vista. I wanted the Oregon since it came out but held off due to the reviews of the screen visibilty. Let us know how the screen is in sunlight. Thanks Quote Link to comment
xcyrus
I bought the Oregon 450 yesterday from UK and the screen visibility is better....about 20-25 % I might say....but in the daylight...unfortunately today was not a shiny day to test in the sunlight. Quote Link to comment
jotne
I would like to know if it is brighter than the Oregon 300/400 and 500 Quote Link to comment
xcyrus
yes, is brighter than Oregon 300 and the display more clear ( crystal like ) Quote Link to comment
jotne
And compare to the 550 ? Quote Link to comment
xcyrus
I don't know...I don't have a 550 unit to compare. Quote Link to comment
sapboiler
I cant compare to anything but my 2002 magellan sportrak but it is amazing to have all info in one machine no paper! It did take a bit to get used to lots of options the touch screen is a nice change it is sometimes tough to see screen but I think the accuracy and options far outweigh that. I would do it again I was looking at the Dakota 10 but my wife said to buy a better model so we dont end up buying it in a couple of months Quote Link to comment
ryan3295
Does the 450 have the same chipset version as the other oregons? or does it have something different than 3.7 Edited January 30, 2010 by ryan3295 Quote Link to comment

dscjwoo4
What is the firmware version on it? Bought one today from BPS, has 3.10 LOVE IT! Quote Link to comment
jotne
It seems to have same firmware as Oregon 550, and the same readable display as Dakota series. software version 310 GPS software version 3.70 Quote Link to comment
Redwoods Mtn Biker
Have you compared it to the Dakota? The Dakota has a lower resolution display, so I'm surprised to hear that the Oregon 450 would be as bright. Quote Link to comment
jotne
I have not compared it, just see a post on it on another forum. Would be nice if some mad a compare between Dakota, Oregon 300/400 and Oregon 550 with the new Oregon 450. (side by side) Quote Link to comment

Unobtainium
If it is like the 550, you'll need to delete the gpx file using your computer Quote Link to comment
