nudewheelers Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Howdy Folks - I have downloaded GCStatistic a few months ago and have used it periodically when I want to learn some more xhtml etc etc. Lately (in the past 6-8 weeks) the program has been very finicky about requesting new .gpx files. THis is basically what is does: -Open program (no problems) -have correct username and password typed in (I check this at least 3-5 times per session of trying to operate program) -press "Request new gpx file" -receive error "Unknown result received 302" Now this has been happening for the past 6-8 weeks and I have no idea why. I have tried every combination of probable errors and can not seem to find the correct combination to get this dadgum thing to work. I have tried: Logging into geocaching.com using safari Not logging into geocaching.com while having safari open attempt running the program on different wireless networks closing safari all together reinstalling GCStatistic multiple times updating (or searching for updates) every time I run the program (current version 1.7b5) logging into geocaching.com with other web browsers rebooting and running GCStatistic with no background programs running making sure I haven't requested any .gpx files from geocaching.com day of running program I just can not seem to find why this dadgum program isn't able to request a new .gpx file. I have used this several times (in the past, probably around version 1.3-1.6ish) and had no problems. The program would open up, as it does now, with my username and password saved, I would request a new .gpx file, and fire away. Lately however, I have operated the program with the same protocol and it just bonks. Is there a step in the sequence of requesting a new gpx file that I am missing? Is there another unwritten trick that i have yet to discover? Any other suggestions or advice to run GCstatistic? And my last-ditch question (used only if GCStatistic on my computer is no longer functional): Is there an alternative program to GCStatistic? Any suggestions/ideas/help is much appreciated! I'm a GC nerd, and my means of displaying nerd status are now crippled. Thanks! Quote
pppingme Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Since you are mentioning your username/password and talking about being or not being logged in from your web browser, does this program log into the site and do stuff? (Sorry, I don't know anything about this program). If that's the case, most programs that do that broke with the last update on 1/12/2010, since the layout of almost every page on the site changed extensively. Quote
Kryten Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 It would appear that GCStatistic requires you to enter your username and password after which it logs into gc.com and requests a gpx file on your behalf. If so then the rules here are quite clear and in particular those in section 5. "You agree that you will not use any robot, spider, scraper or other automated means to access the Site for any purpose without our express written permission." Quote
MacDefender Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Do you have a premium account at GC? You can only request the gpx file if you're a premium member. If this is not the problem than there may be a bug in GCStatistic preventing the file request. But this wouldn't be a problem as the 'Request gpx file' button only automates the request of that file a bit to make this a bit more comfortable. You can still login to your GC account and click on the 'Add to Queue' button on the 'Build Pocket Queries' page. GCStatistic just automates this click on the button so you don't have to use the browser for that. In any case you have to wait for the gpx file to arrive (in a zipped archiv) in your mail account. You can always request this file thenormal way and import the attached zip file into GCStatistic as there is now download feature provided by Groundspeak for this file If you still have any problems you can always contact me via PN/Chat/Mail... You just have to live with my probably bad english but I try my best to add all the features you're missing or fix those bugs. Greetings from Germany Quote
hoskina Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Hi there. Had the same error message. Found I was using version 1.6 of GCStatistics. Updated to 1.9 and the problem was fixed. Quote
