Team Comet Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Was wondering if I can hide things along side of the road in little wooded strips, as long as I give directions to park along a side road or something of that nature. Also can I hide near the outside of a cemetary , not actually in it but outside in a rock wall etc??? Quote
sssss Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 To get the definitive answer, if you email your local reviewer they will be able to give you the answer that is relevant to your area. Reviewers are quite approachable. For example here in the UK you can't place caches in dry stone walls. Quote
briansnat Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 If you have express permission you can hide a cache just about anywhere. Quote
The VanDucks Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 If the little wooded strips are in the public right of way, or on parkland, that would be fine; and it is a great idea to give a parking coordinate; many geocachers omit that step, but it certainly adds to the enjoyment (i.e., less stress) to know where to park for a cache. If the cache is along a busy road, you may want to add something to the description such as "not suitable for small children", or to "watch children closely." I'm not sure where in NY state you are located, but we enjoyed finding NY caches in "public fishing access" spots in the central state area near Syracuse/Utica. Those locations always had a small parking lot and were usually pretty scenic. Quote
Printess Caroline Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Please don't hide in stone walls. It is an invitation for the wall to be destroyed by searchers. Quote
