+WVangler
I've been driving all over my home county for weeks looking for something worth creating an earthcache at. There is one ridgetop knob where the watershed splits into 3 seperate river systems. I thought this might be a neat spot. There is a cemetery (not a big commercially run cemetery, but a handful of graves) right on the top so the access is open to the public since our state law prohibits excluding the public from a cemetery. The problem I've run into is I have no idea who owns the land surrounding the cemetery and it would be a miracle from God to figure out if anyone actually manages this cemetery (most of them are just sort of there - they were deeded as a family cemetery a century ago and there is no longer a board of trustees or anything). The nearest house to this property is about 3/4 mile down the road. I tried to go knock on the door to see if they knew who owned the property and I could hear people inside, but they would not come answer the door. So should I scrap the idea and keep looking? I really want to create an earthcache in my home county, but there is very little public land and the way properties are broken up and tied up in heirships it is a nightmare sometimes figuring out who owns anything at times. toczygroszek
it is a nightmare sometimes figuring out who owns anything at times. That's right, and this really frustrating wasting time looking for for manager of public land where nobody knows who manage this ground... Quote Link to comment
