Danielc
Hi, Just looked at the new page layout. I have found that when I log in and search for caches based on my postcode, I now have a lot less coverage. I live in country Queensland and caches are fairly sparse around here. Lots more along the coast. I used to get a decent coverage now it is pretty miserable. How far is it now covering and is there any way to increase the coverage to make it worth while. Thanks, Dan Link to comment
+pppingme
If your searching by zip code, it just converts that to coordinates and searches from that as a center point. Depending on what page you do it from, it probably only returns caches that are within 25 miles of that (is that what your seeing?). From almost any query like that, you can usually append &dist=xxx to get a larger distance, so for example: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?lat=41.1773654&lng=-80.9760556 defaults to either 25 or 50 miles (sorry, can't remember which), but if you want everything from within 75 miles just append it with &dist=75: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?lat=41.1773654&lng=-80.9760556&dist=75 Link to comment

If I attempt to search by co-ordinates I just get a dialog box with boxes to put co-ordinate numbers in and no place to put in extra miles. It is true I am getting about 25 miles from my postcode - zip codes are Postcodes in Australia - whereas I used to get about 70+ ks in the old system. I tried adding "&dist=75 to my postcode, but it didn't work. I'm afraid I'd need a lot more education before I could search as you suggested. Thanks anywy, Cheers, Dan Link to comment
+pppingme
After you enter your zip code, and it brings up the short list, add the &dist=75 to the url thats in your address bar. Link to comment

Way to go Potato Finder! I did that. Damned if I know why, but I got a coverage stretching into the Northern Territory. But It's all good. I can now just go as far as I need and I'll try cutting that number back a bit. Thanks for your help - it's great. Cheers, Dan Link to comment
