Sorry, but I need to say this. Im squinting now when I look at the cache page logs or listings of caches. The new color scheme is just too glaring bright. Under the older system, it was easy to read. Under this system, it isnt. At least not for my older eyes. I hope this will be considered in future upgrades.

I fully agree with you. For me it is much harder to read the logs on the screen now than with the old version and I'd rate myself as middle-aged. As I like to follow the logs of some caches where the typical log is long, the deteriorated readability is quite unfortunate from my perspective. It appears to me that the new design has been done by persons who are not regular users of the site.

It's always sad when someone "updates" or "upgrades" a website for the worst. Why spend time making things worst.... It's subjective, some may tell. Right... for some reason, in the dozens or hundred of posts commenting the changes I didn't see a single positive one. A few neutrals, all the rest NEGATIVE.

Is it so hard for these little dictators to set up a sample page and create a poll page for the community to decide and provide a user orientation? It's very hard and frustrating to accept changes that I do not like when I know most of the people around second my opinion. If I didn't like the changes but the majority decided so it would be easier to live with them.

Speaking as an old and somewhat crusty curmudgeon, the visual apects of the update are much harder on the eyes of us old pharts. I especially miss the light gray tint on the caches I've already found.

BTW, they aren't "little dictators", just young web developers. Wait 'til they reach their mid 40s.... then the visuals will get better. ;)

Doubtful. Style is not acquired with age; This is evidenced in nearly all of the programming projects I do for management where they want everything their way (bigger ads or certain purchasable features) and not in the way a user would use.

I still hold a little hope in my heart that they'll fix the bug that resets the advanced geocaching page back to alabama no matter what state you choose. Or, rework the page completely. The basic search has way more features than the advanced anyway.

Yep, that will get 'em to listen.

Being from Portugal, I doubt English is his native language, so I'll cut him some slack. ;)

Man, I'm getting old, and don't really like the new layout too much, but I had no clue how badly it was being dissed in here. OK, back to lurking.

The "NEW" Site is TERRIBLE!!!!

TOO much white space & Text is hard to read.

If it ain't broke DON"T fix it.

I agree completely, the new layout and colours are awful. Also all of my listings are in HTML and some of them are not now displaying properly. I'm no computer buff and have spent ages getting the things right, mostly by trial and error, and now they're mucked up!!

I believe that sums up the problem quite well. ;)

Quite true.. In addition, had this site been altered by professional web designers, the site would have been designed on a parallel test system and thoroughly tested, debugged and visually inspected LONG before deployment to a production environment.

As an IT Consultant, Systems Engineer and Network Specialist, I would be fired if I had permitted such a disruption to a client's web presence.

I'll have to agree also much harder to read ;)

Quite true. Nothing more to add.

Same here.

I will add that the new visual formatting looks more like a layour design than a finished product.

When I am building webpages I will often make a preliminary mockup. Those typically look similar to what the current website design looks like. Then I would make dozens of refinements before presenting it to the customer.

If we are the customers, why would we get the preliminary design? Especially since we didn't ask for the visual changes to begin with.

Been there before, I hate it when that happens.

Default font size can be changed on the user's end. Press and hold CTRL and then tap the + key. The - key to make it smaller.

It's interesting to read the comments about the site and cache logs being harder to read for older people. I'm not really older I guess (depending on your point of view), but my eyesight is fairly bad and I haven't gotten new glasses for a while. I think the new style on the website is easier to read. Weird.

Anyway, I use HTML on all of my caches, and I haven't seen any issues with them so far. But I don't have any tables or things like that, and perhaps that's what people are having troubles with?
