+ersthelfer
Hello ..I tried to install Wherigo player onto HTC HD2 (WM 6.5) Hi, take a editor like Notepad an build a file named "wigconfig.config" with the content <configuration> <appSettings> <add key="AutoDetectGps" value="False" /> <add key="BaudRate" value="4800" /> <add key="CommPort" value="COM4:" /> <add key="CartDirectory" value="Storage Card\Wherigo" /> </appSettings> </configuration> and save it into the Wherigo directory. +northernpenguin
Groundspeak has abandoned Windows Mobile development, so you need to be using a QVGA device to use the WiG player for PocketPC. An alternative is to use the Java player, but you'll need to grab a Java Virtual Machine somewhere first - I use Esmertec JBed. I'm quite firm in the belief you'll see an iPhone and Android version of the WiG player before you'll see someone at Groundspeak recompile the player for high resolution devices. Which kinda sucks considering the amount of effort it would take to change the DPI in Visual Studio and hit recompile.... Quote Link to comment

Do you mean the OpenWIG-Player? I have download it to my HTC HD2 and I use JBlend as Java VM. I can start it, but I don't can connect to GPS. Have you make it run on your HTC Touch Pro2? If so, please can you help me? Thanks a lot and please sorry my bad english. Andreas Engel Quote Link to comment
matejcik
what options for GPS do you see in "Options"? do you see "Internal GPS"? if yes, then select that. if not, then select "TCP Socket". then you must install GPSPort from here: http://www.trekbuddy.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1331 then configure it for your GPS COM port. then run OpenWIG and in Options set port number to the port number from GPSPort. then go to "GPS" and Connect Quote Link to comment
+ersthelfer
Meanwhile I make OpenWIG works on my HTC HD2. I install the Esmertec Jbed 20090217.5.1R2 So I can start the OpenWIG. I have tested it with my Wherigo-Cache Der verschwundene Geocacher But there are two problems. 1.) The sounds was not played. I take a look to the list of Wherigo code features that OpenWIG can run and see "PlayMedia" is supported, but I hearing no sound I dont know is it a problem of OpenWIG or Jbed. 2.) The much greater problem is: The GPS update time is round about 25 seconds while I choose 1 second update time I anybody out here who can tell me how to speedup the GPS? Thanks a lot and please sorry my bad english. Andreas Engel Edited January 20, 2010 by ersthelfer Quote Link to comment
matejcik
this refresh interval refreshes only display on detail screens. otherwise, gps refresh interval is always 1s. but it is possible that there is a bug with "internal gps" which is slowing it down. please try the GPSGate and TCP Socket setup and see if your gps is faster that way. +ersthelfer
Hi, gps refresh interval is always 1s. but it is possible that there is a bug with "internal gps" which is slowing it down. please try the GPSGate and TCP Socket setup and see if your gps is faster that way. I have tested it with GPSGate and the TCP Socket and it works well. My other gps programs works also well with 1 sec. GPS update time. So I think there is a bug with the internal GPS settings. My other question: Is the openWIG able to play sounds? Thanks a lot Andreas Quote Link to comment
matejcik
that very much depends on the kind of sound and the kind of your device. basically it's like this: 1. openWIG will read the sound file from GWC into memory. -> you need to have the sound in the GWC. if you downloaded GWC for Garmin, it will not contain the sound -> your phone must have enough memory to fit the sound. (that shouldn't be a problem on HD2) 2. it will feed the sound to the Java Machine. -> your Java Machine must understand the sound format. MP3 generally works fine, OGG generally does not, WAV works sometimes (different kind of WAVs work differently) 3. the Java Machine then plays the sound -> it must be able to play the sound ;e) JBed should be ok, as far as i know. so most likely there is a problem with the sound format Quote Link to comment
