working fine here. Couple of answers would help clear up your situation...

  1. What version of OS X are you using?
  2. What internet browser are you using?
  3. Is it the current version?
  4. Do you have the Garmin Communicator plugin installed?
  5. Is it the current version?
  6. What model Garmin GPSr are you using?
  7. Does it have the current software installed in it?
  8. And if said GPSr has both RS-232 serial and USB which are you using?

What I discovered a few months ago is that the Safari browser doesn't play well with Garmin Communicator if you have Flip4mac installed as a plugin. I now use the Camino browser and have no problem.

Yup, the garmin communicator plugin won't work with safari.

Works fine here.

Works fine here also, check to see if you have Flip4mac.

i have flip for mac and safari and it works fine

if you have a premium membership though i strongly reccemend maccaching, this plus and ipod makes for paperless caching. stores all the info on the ipod in the notes section and transfers all the caches in the pocket query to your gps, and you can even choose to give them the title of their name rather than gc code.

actually, right now I am experiencing some serious problems with my gps, it doesnt want to communicate with the computer(garmin communicator, maccaching, mapinstall, and even the unit itself- vista hcx- says its not connected) any solutions? they all worked about a week ago when i did my last pq, now that im trying to install some maps it doesnt seem to work tho :P

The plugin Flip4mac is the problem. When I initially had problems with this, I looked and looked on the internet and finally found information about communicator, Safari, and Flip4mac. I think since then Safari and Flip4mac have both been updated and perhaps now it will work ... although I haven't tried it.

I tried Maccaching and it wouldn't recognize my Oregon. If one looks on the Maccaching site at supported receivers, the list is pretty short. It seems that most of the software for Mac doesn't get updated often. Bummer.

I'll be darned! Safari, communicator, and Flip4mac now appear to play well together. Since I downloaded the Camino browser, I hardly ever use Safari to know if the problem had been solved. Thanks to those who pointed out that the combo is now working.

Garmin Communicator Plug-in Version 2.9.1.0

Flip4Mac Windows Media Web Plugin 2.3

Safari Version 4.0.4 (6531.21.10)

So maybe what you should do is check to see if you have the most recent versions of everything.

Did work fine for me with Maccaching and Oregon. With 60SCx too.
