5th International Math Trade

Could it be that once you have entered coins to the Trade they disappear from the list of coins?

I had 5 entries but can't find any of them. Or did go something wrong?

I had to go back to the 8th to find your entries. I have cut and pasted them to the current sheet. This may mean that you can't edit them now, but I'm not sure.

Saffier's one coin was missing too.

Just a note to everyone:

Please be very careful when editing or deleting one of your coin listings that you don't accidentally select multiple lines.

One more question:

How did you all list your geocoin in alphabetical order?? Manually or is there something we can do??

I realised that I am the only one without an order to my list!! :) Sorry for that.

I tried to copy and paste and it's long and If I have to do it I'll do, my fault not seeing what other people have done before going into it head down.

Thanks :D

I use excel to keep track of my coins so every once in a while after entering more coins I use the "sort" feature

You don't have to worry about sorting... I'll do that from time to time.

Got it! Don't know why, but it was being routed to my spam folder.

You will be getting your invite momentarily.

I have sent out 61 invites! Of those, 36 have entered 771 coins into the spreadsheet.

If you haven't received your invitation to the document, please let me know!

If you have any questions on how to enter your coins, please let me know!

The deadline for entering coins is Thursday at 9:00 PM EST

Today is the last day to enter coins in the list!

The deadline for entering coins is 9:00 PM EST

We have 43 participants so far.

We have over 1000 coins in the list so far this year!

A couple of people have gone over the 50 coin max -- please check your lists and trim them if you fall in this category. You can also trim your list during the grouping phase (more on that tomorrow).

A few also have duplicated entries. I'll be deleting these after the list is closed tonight as per the guidelines for this year's Mathtrade.

Thanks for a great turnout! Looking forward to the 8th already!

Hi, everyone --

I'm sorry my list isn't up yet -- yesterday was the Chiefs Exam and I was pretty much locked up studying for that. It'll be done by tonight!

Edited to add: oops, looks like I missed the deadline. Drats! I'll see you all next year, I guess!

I have a procedural question :P My wish list is greater than the number of coins I have to trade....ok to make your wish list as big as you want? Thanks.

It's more of a ranking list, of coins you would accept in trade for your coin. So if you only had one coin, but would trade any other coin in the whole Math Trade for it, your string would be 1000 coins long. Which is perfectly fine. Although, most people just put their top 5, or 10, or whatever. Me, I put about 100 choices for each coin, figuring I'd rather get a new coin than keep the one I have now.

Ok, another question, as this is the 1st year I've participated. Do I rank a general wish list? Or a ranked list of what I'd accept for each specific coin.

Lists are generated for specific coins. If you look at the google doc, each row is numbered. When regrouping is done, those numbers will be locked. So each coin will have a unique number. Let's assume there are only 10 coins in the trade, and you have coin #1, and nine other coins are available. Your want list for your coin would look like this (example):

Nefesh 1 : 4, 5, 2, 9, 10, 7, 8, 6, 3

The way this reads is Nefesh would accept for their coin #1, coin #4 preferably, coin #5 2nd preference, coin #2 third preference, etc. With all coins listed in that string as acceptable to receive in trade for coin #1. Very important to understand that part. Don't list a coin in the "ranked string" if you don't want it. And the rank order is left to right, from most desirable to least.

Another example would be:

Nefesh 1:

This reads that Nefesh would accept NO COINS available in the math trade for coin #1. This is used if you really don't want to trade for any of the coins (your coin is super rare, whatever) or you've traded away coin #1. let's say someone comes along and offers you $100 for coin #1, before the trade is finished. But you've already entered it in the list, and people will be adding it to their strings. What to do?! If you put nothing in your trade string, the coin will not trade. Very important as well.

That's it!

The coin submission phase is closed!

We ended up with 45 participants and an astounding 1058 coins for trade!

Now the Regroup Phase begins. If you are interested in regrouping coins to make an extra special package in the hopes of landing that one must-have coin, then follow the instructions below. When you are satisfied with the way your coins stand, please let me know via email or a post to this thread. Remember, regrouping is optional. If you simply want to trade your coins off one by one as they are now listed, all you need to do is send an email to the address below saying that you are done regrouping. If everyone finishes with the regrouping early, we can move on to the Want List Phase early.

Please contact me if you have any questions. The Regroup Phase will be open until January 28th, 9:00 PM EST (this coming Thursday).

Regrouping Instructions:

The Regroup Phase gives all participants the chance to create sets of two or more of their coins. You can do this to make an offer more attractive to others (and therefore to have a potentially higher chance to get a specifically wanted coin). Remember -- if you decided to group two or more coins together, these will only be traded as a complete set (or not at all).

To regroup your offers, please send an email to:

mathtrade5@gmail.com

containing the line numbers and the coin descriptions of all coins for each coin set you want to create. Also mention your geocaching.com nickname -- just as an extra measure of insurance to keep me from making mistakes.

-------------------------------------------

Example:

Let's say I have seen some must-have coins that I, well, must have. Unfortunately, I feel that the coins I am offering -- on their own -- won't seal the deal. So I decide to combine some of my coins into sets. I'll fire off an email with the required info:

Regrouping for E&Cplus3:

Group1

ID 363 sTeam Traens black nickel

ID 364 sTeam Traens gold

ID 365 sTeam Traens silver

Group2

ID 345 Groningen Stad en Omeland XLE gold/antique copper

ID 346 Groningen Stad en Omeland XLE gold/silver

Group3

ID 331 Cache of the Titans Medusa antique copper/silver

ID 343 Four Musketeers Holiday Edition

-------------------------------------------

Please use the ID's as listed on the Coins Offered worksheet in the Mathtrade5 document.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this process. You can post your questions here, or email them.

No regrouping needed for me. Can we still add info about the coins, that is metal or RE, LE, etc?

The worksheet is locked and can't be modified. But before the want list phase I will be going through every list and will ask coin owners to specify finish, etc if it isn't clear.
