We are happy to announce the coming of BC's Biggest Annual Caching Event - Occuring from July 30 - Aug 2, 2010 in Princeton BC.

Geocache.com caching page will be submitted shortly - in the interim the information can be found here:

Great Copper Rush

It is a 3 day event showcasing the beautiful historic Similkameen area - Ground Zero will be the fairgrounds in Princeton. The fairgrounds have been reserved for this event and camping with showers & bathrooms is available there.

We estimate between 100-150 caches will be part of the event & it is like no other caching event that we know of. 3 days of adventures accompanied by a book & cd that highlight the history of the areas that you will be at.

Additional Info:

Existing Caches listed that will be part of the Event

This is a beginning list - and we have approximately 50-75 new caches that will be launched as part of this event.

We offer no great prizes, but simply a lifetime of memories that will offer challenges to cachers of all types.

The event will be held in August so all off road areas will be open - and this year (unliked last) We guarantee that the Whipsaw Trail will be open and one of the major legs - As well as other Quad friendly/4x4 friendly caches.

There also will be many many caches that are car friendly - along with hiking caches too.

This is an extremely family friendly event - we will be hosting Meet & Greets and other cachers that are coming will be hosting pancake breakfasts, movie nights & even a poker tournament - so those family members that don't cache - well they should be entertained as well!

Hope to see you there!

Will update as time goes on

We are happy to say that it has been published:

Great Copper Rush.

To date we have 25 will attends - that combined with family members and other's that have pre-registered puts us at about 75 people so far & less then a week after being published! 15 of the Poker Spots for Saturday Night Poker are already gone as well..

Will be a blast !

As a teaser - we have managed to find another ancient tramline from about 1880 that the caches will take you to, along with several areas with beautiful Core Samples..

It'll be a great August Long weekend in the Similkameen

Just a Quick update:

1. The Coins have been ordered and are in production now

2. For those that are contemplating coming and have any questions please contact us at tulameenturtles@shaw.ca

3. There will be only 64 spots available for Poker - over 1/2 of those are gone already.

4. To date we have 98 "offically registered" cachers coming & 34 teams

5. The Popcorn Machine for the Movies under the stars has been reserved!

6. We strongly believe that we can hit 500 people to mark this as BC's first Mega Event! With the will attends that have been posted that haven't registered & those we've talked to that are coming we are at- I think at about 275 if I count them all!

7. This is a very very family friendly event - I just finished putting together 16 "kids only temporary caches"

8. For the 4x4 enthusiasts and quads - we have caches up your alley!

9. For the history Buff's we have caches up your alley!

Please vist www.TURTLEPETPROJECTS.com for any information abut the event! We house the most recent cache pages that have been created there.

We've also finished compiling all the music for the CD that everyone will be getting - only have to find the stories to mingle with it and finish the recording.. :)

Planning for the event is coming along in a great way - so far 200 people have confirmed through official registration or will attends that they will be there! Which makes for about 70 teams - with more registering every week - it's going to be a great time. We still have 4 months to go and next weekend will be starting to place the over 50 caches that will be published the weekend of the event!

Over 40 of the 64 Poker Spots have been taken & the campfire songs are being created by the cachers.. heard one titled "The Ammo Can Can" sung to the tune of the Candy Man Can. The CD is almost finished - just have to record the stories now!

I will be doing a full update tomorrow for those that are registered - however thought I would spread the word that the photo's of the coin samples has arrived!

So check them out!! :D

It will be an awesome event.

So far we are on track to our goals - 44 Caches are ready and waiting to found. 24 will be unpublished at the event, and 20 are existing ones with their stamps all snuggled in with the log books.

All of the new Caches that we're placing along the KVR from Princeton to Osprey Lake are ready to go, and the snow is quickly going so we should be able to get into some of the higher elevation either this weekend or the next 2 weeks.

This weekend we are hoping to get ready between another 30-40, with placing around 25 new ones and getting existing ones ready.

This year's "Book" (See Last Years The Great Coal Rush Book for an idea) Is about 90% done, just did the first print & it's only waiting for happy new coordiantes to be placed in it.

Formal Registrations are coming in quickly! And the numbers continue to Grow! The CD will be published next month as we are waiting for a special recording being done by our fiends that were written by another caching friend.

We are happy to announce that the wedding will be taking place as originally thought (if we can confirm someone to marry us.. lol) Mr. Turtle will be wearing an outfit designed by Indiana Jones and Mrs. Turtle will be decked out in fairy Costume..

So please Join us for the whole weekend - if not for one of the events! Just make sure you sign that log book - we are crossing our fingers for Mega!
