kbellis Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 Does anybody know if it's possible to bring Tides to the forefront on the OR 550 and CO 400i? In order to find the tides on the OR, you've to navigate from the Main Menu>Where To?>scroll nearly to the end of the list>Tides>choose from the list of nearby stations>go to the map view>touch the station> and then finally view the tide table. At least on the CO, the tabular data is presented one step earlier with the graph as an option, but still there's quite a drill before getting the answer. Is there anyway to cut to the chase? Quote
oakenwood Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 (edited) Main Menu --> Setup --> Page Sequence --> <Add Page> Then pick the page you want. After that, you can just use the Page Key to get to it. Edited December 28, 2009 by oakenwood Quote
kbellis Posted December 28, 2009 Author Posted December 28, 2009 Hi oakenwood, Thanks for the note. Are your instructions for either/ both the Oregon 550 and Colorado 400i? I wish they were as I'd love to be able to call up tide tables quickly. Quote
oakenwood Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Those directions, or something close, should work with your units. You might not be able to go all the way to the last of your steps, though. The Tides page might be as far as you can go, if the unit won't recall which station you've selected. It'll still save you a few steps. I don't have either of your units, so I can't check it. I'm describing a shortcut that works for Garmin handhelds in general. Quote
+Chrysalides Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 (edited) Oops. I checked. You can change the order of the icons on the main menu, but AFAIK there's no shortcut to a function not on the main menu. Edited December 28, 2009 by Chrysalides Quote
+FollowMeChaps Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 (edited) Sorry if this is a basic question as I'm new to the 550 (thank you Santa!) but when I select Main Menu>Where To?>Tides> I get a 'No Results Found' message. I have the 550, not the t version, so do I need to add a special base map? Edited December 28, 2009 by FollowMeChaps Quote
kbellis Posted December 28, 2009 Author Posted December 28, 2009 Yes, that's what I concluded too. It's a bummer. I imagine that there are other sub-menu items that users would love closer to the forefront if the application software allowed for the shuffle... like it somewhat does already. Quote
kbellis Posted December 28, 2009 Author Posted December 28, 2009 Hi there followmechaps, Have you tried looking for the tide data on your 550 (same as I've got BTW) after you've taken it outdoors and gotten a fix on your location? Quote
kbellis Posted December 28, 2009 Author Posted December 28, 2009 oh wait... read this https://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/message...762294#10765294 Quote
+FollowMeChaps Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Many thanks kbellis. It seems that in the UK I'll just have to wait for someone to start a Wiki Marine Chart along the lines of the excellent Open Street Map - any takers? Quote
kbellis Posted December 29, 2009 Author Posted December 29, 2009 FYI & FWIW - I just heard back from a Garmin Product Support Specialist who indicated that the drill (as outlined at the beginning of this thread) must be done each time. Quote

Bummer.. thanks for the update. They could take a page out of some other consumer products that allow custom buttons to jump directly to any submenu from the top level menu. Quote
