+pissedfish
Thanks for the information. I will see where I can go from here. If anyone else has info on how I can ID this mark or just get more info on it, I would surely appreciate it. Thanks Pissedfish Edited December 21, 2009 by pissedfish Quote Link to comment
sjkimmel99
As others here have noted in other threads Corps of Engineering disks are often located along waterways or other Corps engineering projects which would explain it's location next to the bridge and river. This section of the FAQ gives reasons why a mark would not be in the Geocaching.com database: http://www.geocaching.com/mark/#whynotin By the way, looked at your photostream on Flickr and noticed the graveyard photos. What's the story behind it? Kind of unusual monuments, almost pre-historic looking. Quote Link to comment
+PFF
....noticed the graveyard photos. What's the story behind it? Kind of unusual monuments, almost pre-historic looking. Say, since today was the Winter Solstice, did anyone go out there at Noon to see if the Sun created a light beam along the axis of the monuments? A "Dagger of Light" in the right spot might be an indication that Winter is over the hump and the days will be getting longer. -Paul- Quote Link to comment

There is a multi cache there that I found. It really is a very unique place. GC1JW9R is the cache if you want to take a look at it. Quote Link to comment
Z15
Lots of Corps of Engineers survey disks are only put in for district projects and are not intended for the public domain. They have meaning to the Engineer district but its of little value to them to share this information with those that do not need to know. You have to seek them out and ask for the information and if they deem appropriate they will share. Many years ago we were doing a route survey (new highway) thru a national forest near the Soo Locks. In the course of our field work we discovered a few C of E marks that local pointed out to us. The only place that had info was at the locks and we had to contact them and justify our need for the information. They allowed us access to the information, elevations.
