namiboy
yeah, i know, practically no one uses mygarmin to download caches, but suddenly today the website stated "only a group of 5 geocaches per unit per day". is this something from garmin, or something from geocaching.com? also, i didn't even download any and by the time i found some i wanted to download it said i had already reached my limit and come back tomorrow. anyone know anything? Rocketsteve
When downloading caches from Geocache.com is so easy, I don't understand why you would even bother with Garmin's website. Edited December 19, 2009 by rocketsteve Quote Link to comment

mtbikernate
That's going to be a Garmin thing, but I bet it's because GC.com doesn't want 3rd parties skimming cache data from the site. I'm sure they've got an agreement with Garmin to allow them to do it, but GC.com still doesn't like it. Download your caches from GC.com and you won't have any trouble. Quote Link to comment
Ken in Regina
To actually answer your questions: It is undoubtedly coming from GC.com. Garmin would have no reason to restrict it and every reason to keep their customers happy with unrestricted access if they could. The way the restriction is implemented Garmin or GC are probably counting the wrong thing. They probably count a search result as a "download". Complain to Garmin about it. Tell them if they're going to restrict it to such a small number they should at least count the right thing so you get to actually download the meager number they allow. ...ken...
