Noob question, and I know that I have seen it on the site. I want to convert, the usual. Minute type cord to either decimal or degree.

Help me find that little app on the site, it had something to so with waypoints.

In a pinch, you can do this with a calculator.

 

Decimal degrees -> Decimal minutes

 

Take the decimal part of degrees and multiply by 60.

 

E.g. 37.50000 -> 0.5 * 60 = 30.000, so 37° 30.000

 

Similar techniques for decimal minutes to decimal seconds.

 

If you have a bunch to convert, an Excel spreadsheet does it nicely and easily.

Um... I do it on my Gupy. Go to Set Up, and change it to whatever I want to convert, then change ithe Set Up to what I want to conver to. I do a lot of benchmarking, and the NGS uses DD MM.SSSSSSSS. So I set the GPS to DD MM.SSS and enter it.

Let your GPS unit handle that. Load the coordinates in while it is set to wgs84 and then switch to other ones to your heart's desire......
