Has anyone used the Blackberry tour for Where I go? If so where would I go to get the programs I need to do this?

OpenWiG works fine on my Blackberry Tour, OS 5.0.0.419

When you downloaded a cartridge which version did you downlaod? One of the Garmin versions or the Pocket PC version?

I finished my first Wherigo today using OpenWIG on my BlackBerry curve 8330. Figuring out how to use the program too a little while because there are no directions available at this time. It ran well and I finished the cartridge in about 25 minutes.

I downloaded GC1CJ62 in the format for Pocket PC and the Wherigo tutorial in the format for Gamin Oregon and couldn't see the difference.

I highly recommend using the Cartridge Optimizer. It took some of the manual work out of preparing the cartridge.

Anyone gotten OpenWIG to work on a Storm? I can download the program, even start up the tutorial, but I'm having issues (as specified) with getting the GPS to work properly. And I'm honestly not sure if I'm even using the program correctly

Any help?

thanks

In your OpenWIG bug reporting section on the OpenWIG site. I'm getting the same error when trying to use the internal GPS.

BlackBerry folk, please try this build:

http://raketa.140.cz/openwig/openwig-bbgps.zip

for OTA:

http://raketa.140.cz/openwig/openwig-bbgps.jad

http://raketa.140.cz/openwig/openwig-bbgps.jar

the gps problems should (theoretically) be gone

d/l'ing now. If this works I'm flying to the Czech Republic to kiss your feet :D:lol:

EDIT: No go for me using the OTA install. When I close the program and restart it I get the (null) at internal error previously reported. I'll try the manual install tomorrow.

ah, well.

try this (OTA):

http://raketa.140.cz/openwig/openwig-bb2.jad

http://raketa.140.cz/openwig/openwig-bb2.jar

it might crash again, but hopefully with a different error

It did crash, and it did have a different error. I'm on a Blackberry Storm, for what that's worth.

I'm installing the program, starting it up, going into Options and selecting Internal and saving it. Then I go into GPS and put in my current coordinates and try to run the tutorial cartridge, but it never registers that I'm moving when it says to walk 50m away.

I've also tried running the cartridge without first putting in my current coordinates, but I get the same thing.

If I close the program without switching the GPS type from Internal to None I get the error on startup.

yeah, well, the million dollar question is: what error was it this time?

:D I KNEW you were going to ask that. Ok, here goes:

error r386

java.lang.RuntimeException:java.lang.Exception:javax.microedition.location.LocationException: GPS not Allowed (javax.microedition.location.LocationException: GPS not Allowed) (java.lang.Exception: javax.microedition.location.LocationException: GPS not Allowed (javax.microedition.location.LocationException: GPS not Allowed)) at internal

Whew!

weellllllll, now this is interesting. "GPS not allowed."

say, when you set the Internal GPS for the first time, did you have to confirm some permissions?

maybe the confirmation dialog cannot show because there is nothing visible on screen at that time...?

When I first installed the player, I set all application permissions to "Allow" just in case. When I start the program and set the GPS to Internal through the Options menu I don't get any other permissions screen. I do have to save those settings though using the menu key.

and, does your BB come from Verizon, by any chance?

Yes. Now I'm scared

I found this doing a google search on "Blackberry Storm set GPS permissions"

http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Jav...GPS/td-p/105010

not sure if it will help. Kinda doubt it. I'm completely clueless when it comes to Java. Sorry :D

FYI: Other GPS programs function properly (cacheberry, blackstar, googlemaps, etc.)

i found that too...

apparently, i need to sign my code with RIM's keys which are $20 apiece. that is very affordable (considering that regular J2ME signing keys are $500 per year), so i might just buy them.

on the other hand, i have no idea about how to set up the signing environment for blackberry etc etc ... i'm doing all my development for J2ME phones, the fact that the app works on blackberries is a lucky coincidence ;e)

so, i'm not going to do anything about it for now, except for removing the killer error (you will not be able to use the internal GPS, but you will be able to run openwig with a bluetooth dongle, for example)

and when i have enough time on my hands, i'll try to look into it

if, on the other hand, you knew a person who does some blackberry development, ask them for help, they might fix this much quicker than i ever could ;e)
