geos715
Hi Guys, I've been off in the Android world (T-Mobile G1) making a small geocaching app work. I been developing various geocaching/Wherigo type applications for a while and have looked at a number of platforms and have ported some of my code to a few with goal of running a Wherigo type on them. Recently, I noticed that the Android supports LUA and Google's version of java. Is it possible someone has looked at Wherigo for the Android? Regards, Tom Birchmire Quote Link to comment
Ranger Fox
You'll want to talk to matejcik about this. He has been developing an application (OpenWIG) to work on Java-enabled cell phones. Also, check out this thread; it contains some information that would be helpful. I would advise asking Groundspeak for approval before you begin trying to make a Wherigo Player Android port. You'll need their approval to post a third-party app on their forums (and, as the Wherigo forum moderator, I'll need to be notified of this). matejcik already went through this process. matejcik
geos715, hi again :e) i didn't know that you didn't realize that you can run openwig on android. so here goes: you actually can ;e) you need to use netmite android converter to convert the .jar file to .apk, but then it works. +SunshineGang
I am hoping GC.com will write an Android Wherigo App. I heard they are starting work on a geocaching app for Android I just got a Sprint Hero last week and am loving the phone. THe hardware requirements have kept me from Wherigo in the past Quote Link to comment
+JohnE5
Still working, hopefully they won't go over their Q1 projection too much. Edited April 6, 2010 by JohnE5 Quote Link to comment
+JohnE5
I found a new (only) Wherigo app on the marketplace today. Started a new thread on it. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=248711 Quote Link to comment
