kehunt64
Dutch art had many renowned artists such as Frans Hals, Rembrandt, Albert Cuyp and Jan Vermeer just to list a few...so I think the picture on the new Delft Blaauw coin could be a "painter's palette with a paintbrush", like the ones held by artists when they paint their masterpieces. +hollora
A boat in a canal............. Quote Link to comment

Ruud4d
I am so happy to know the third Delfts Blauw Coin is comming. I've two spaces open in one of my books underneath the first and second coin. The design: I think it will be a tallship like they sailed the Seven Seas during the VOC-period. They stand for the mercantilism of the Dutch. Or maybe a bouquet? Or would it be the little boy with his finger in the dyke: Hansje Brinker? Quote Link to comment
mickebush77
I think it's a very small décorative plate. Quote Link to comment
geoquino
Some people suggested cheese. But what about the rack or carrier made of wood the cheese sellers use for transport? Quote Link to comment
Red Otter
I'm looking forward to seeing this one! My guess is that it'll be an ice skating picture for a winter theme. Quote Link to comment
Tennessee Jed
I think it may be a boat like hollora, since Holland is known for it's ship building and cruise lines. But it could be a bicycle, cows, koi, light house or snowflake. Edited December 5, 2009 by Tennessee Jed Quote Link to comment
ZeroHecksGiven
I was going to say lighthouse as well, beat me to it Jed. So ummmmmmm, butter churn, lol Quote Link to comment
dhenninger
A Bicycle. They are everywhere in The Netherlands Quote Link to comment
gardengorilla
Koe I love the cow! I am drinking a Heineken right now...and it is 37C outside! So, that heat along with the alcohol has led me to guess maybe this time something botanical, like an illustration of hops. Barring that, how about making the coin orange or perhaps a dyke? GG bite your tongue. It is -15C here and blowing snow - come on back and enjoy a bit of this fabulous weather!! The coin depicts a dutch boy with his finger in the dike. Hope they make a few more of this version - they are far too popular to only make another 125. Also, congrats E&Cplus3 Quote Link to comment
anne.and.eli
Maybe it's a beer or a salt cellar. Quote Link to comment

Smily2617
could it be a sower or a drawbridge? This are old nederlandse symbols. Quote Link to comment
gardengorilla
There are many Dutch that have chosen to move to Australia...I got the chance to pick a Dutch Lady's brain at a Christmas party this weekend and asked about what are typical Dutch symbols? Most of the above were mentioned but we also had a good convo about politics and I'm thinking maybe the coin may have a symbol of the monarchy on it? Quote Link to comment
dhenninger
How about an Ammo Can? Quote Link to comment
gardengorilla
Many posts have mentioned skating as did my Dutch friend...maybe it's just a single skate? Quote Link to comment
Ruud4d
How about an Ammo Can? Nah... Only 33% of the caches in the Netherlands are regular or large. 60% is micro or small. So I would rather expect it to be a filmcannister Quote Link to comment
Twin Peaks
Mmm... interesting. Cannot wait to see the new one!! Over here you can buy these lollies: Since we already had the windmill and the klomp, my guess would be the typical dutch facade Quote Link to comment
Vanelle
This is one of my favorite all-time coins, and I am so pleased to see that #3 is in the making. My guesses for the image have mostly been mentioned before: Dutch Bonnet, Tulip, Cow, or Dutch Architecture. Simple and clear - iconic. The video is a nice treat, thank you for making it. Seeing the molds, the numbering tools, and the shop was fascninating. Quote Link to comment

Crowesfeat30
Wow that's quite a procedure for just one coin! And it's only one step in the process too! These coins are definitely worth whatever they are asking for them. CF30 Quote Link to comment
gardengorilla
Hmm, I had another look. Even had my kids in on it because lots of times they see things my eyes don't We were all wondering why your partner would 'ruin' the little video by reaching across to retrieve the bottle opener...maybe he was thirsty? but then in the new video we didn't hear the sound of a bottle being opened... So is this a functional delft blaauw coin, say a bottle opener? Quote Link to comment
cache_in_hand
I noticed two empty cups sitting on the table that looked as if you all had been drinking some hot chocolate before the beer. Maybe the coins are chocolate related. Quote Link to comment

longtomsilver
It is great to read about the new Delft Coin. I am eagerly waiting on the chance to get one as many of you all do. My choice, beside cheese and all the topics which are mentioned is f.e. the retaining dam to keep of the flooding. Those are brilliant build and are for sure outstanding and very helpful for the dutch people. Edited December 13, 2009 by longtomsilver Quote Link to comment

gardengorilla
Maybe it's a delft Blaauw style compass rose? Quote Link to comment
Toojin
ah, a sailing ship commemorating the major trading that the Dutch have always been famous for... the Dutch West India Company / GWC and how instrumental they were in the colonization of America Quote Link to comment
dragling
I'm thinking, Tulips, or a bicycle or 18th Century Dutch tile work or The coat of arms, heraldry or or ollibollen or Kids in traditional costume if those fail then the kitchen sink Quote Link to comment
