Do you mean an external antenna? No the Oregons don't have that ability. But, why do you need one?

 

.....because they really need one to reduce their sensitivity to multipath errors.

 

.. the Oregon internal antenna is a patch style, right? Most external antennas that I'm aware of use a patch style too. Why would using an external patch antenna reduce multipath errors?

No, it is ceramic. Most external antennas are powered, larger and have better gain than internals. For walking use, there is little improvement. It helps a lot for things like vehicle use, where the antenna has poor visibility.

cheers all, the reason i asked was i was wondering if the gps ceramic ever failed would i get round it with an external, but as an external isnt available it answers my question..

The reason you need it is because the ability to get satellites (particularly WAAS which is almost never seen) on the Oregon is the worst of any receiver they have ever made. And it gets worse when you pass within 20 feet of a large tree. I ditched mine and got a Colorado.

 

Garmin should be embarassed at their decision to go away from the helix antenna.
